The Catalina Trojans defeated the Cibola Raiders 11-to-4 in the championship game of the Coaches for Charity Invitational Saturday, March 3, 2018, at Amphi High School. Alex Phillips, Catalina pitcher, and infielder, was named the tournament MVP.

 

The Catalina Trojans defeated the Cibola Raiders (Yuma) in the championship game of the Coaches for Charity Invitational Saturday, March 3, 2018. Charles Stewart scored in the 2nd inning to lead the Trojans to an 11-to-4 victory.

The annual event, sponsored by the Amphi Unified School District, is the kickoff to the high school baseball season in Tucson and southern Arizona. Teams have traveled from as far away as El Paso, Texas the first week of March to compete against squads from southern Arizona in this annual tournament.

On Friday evening, Coaches for Charity is proud to present the Coaches for Charity Baseball Invitational Banquet for the participating teams. The banquet features a well-known keynote speaker and is a chance for players and coaches to get to know one another off of the diamond. On Saturday, the final day of the tournament, the championship game is played at the Amphi High School field.

We are proud to assist the Amphi Unified School District produce The Coaches for Charity Baseball Invitational through public relations, fundraising, producing and selling advertising in the printed program, coordinating the keynote speaker, and cosponsoring the banquet.

 

The Socorro Bulldogs defeated the El Dorado Aztecs 6-to-1 to win the championship game of the 2017 Panther Invitational. Both teams traveled to Tucson from El Paso to participate in the tournament sponsored by Coaches for Charity. (The Socorro catcher applied the tag for the out.)
